Welcome to Temple Israel of the Poconos Nestled in the beautiful and historic Pocono
Mountain area, is Stroudsburg,
PA and our synagogue. Our history goes back more than 85 years and is
full of service to the community. Our congregation is an egalitarian
Conservative one and we are affiliated with the United Synagogoue of Conservative Judaism
(USCJ).
We welcome you to join us and take part in our
services and programs. We strive to have a well-balanced, spiritual,
interesting and fun calendar of events. Our religious services are warm with
lots of singing. We have Shabbat services on every Friday night and Saturday morning. In addition, we
have services for the holidays and minyans for people who need to say Kaddish and visit during Shiva
calls.
Our policy is inclusive rather than exclusive. The
congregation is made up of individuals and families from many different
backgrounds; from those who are very observant to those just (re-)discovering
their Jewish roots and heritage. All are welcome to worship with us. A wonderful spirit is alive at Temple Israel of the Poconos. Here, you
will find warmth and joy, community and purpose. Temple Israel is a
place of openness to all, where each person can connect, where comfort
and caring matter. It is a place of strength and beauty, of spirituality
and learning, of creative possibility, a place filled with God's spirit
and human kindness.
Come and join us. We invite you to enter the
stream of Jewish experiences, where new understanding and insights
await you and those you love. Temple Israel is a place with Torah at the
center, where serious learning is for everyone, where prayer is
meaningful, participatory and powerful, where people reach out to one
another during times of celebration and sadness.
If Judaism
matters to you, you will find something significant here. You will find
relationships - connections to others who share your interests. You will
find a commitment to excellence. You will find many paths of access to
Jewish life.
Please contact the Temple Office or me with any
questions regarding the Temple and membership.
See you in Temple.
